Natalie D. Wales

In May 2010, Natalie Wales joined California Water Service Company (Cal Water) as Regulatory Counsel.  Cal Water is one of the largest water utilities regulated by the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) and provides water service in 24 districts throughout California.  

Prior to joining Cal Water, Natalie was Chief of Staff to CPUC Commissioner Timothy Alan Simon, and also advised Comr. Simon on telecommunications and water issues.  As a CPUC Staff Attorney from July 2002 to November 2008, Natalie represented the CPUC’s Division of Ratepayer Advocates in telecommunications and water proceedings. 

Ms. Wales started practicing telecommunications law at the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) in 1996 during implementation of the Telecommunications Act of 1996.  In 1998, she joined Sprint Communications Corporation and appeared before state utility commissions in Alaska, California, Nevada, and Utah on behalf of the company's competitive local exchange, long distance, and wireless interests.  Subsequently, at the California Cable and Telecommunications Association, Ms. Wales worked before the CPUC and the California Legislature on telecommunications and cable television issues relating to California cable companies.

Ms. Wales received her J.D. in 1995 from George Washington University, where she was a Staff Member of The Environmental Lawyer Law Journal.  She received her B.A. in Psychology, with a Minor in Literature, at the University of California in San Diego.
